My apologies if this is old news. I noticed something while going through all these upgrades lately. If you use the "newconfig.cfg" option on a new install, the config options get completely overwritten. This can be a problem if the available options changes. In my case, I was using an older config file that did not have the "wifi" line in it. When I updated it removed that line from the config file and my wireless would not work after reboot regardless if I backed up or not. I noticed a few lines have changed, so make sure you have all the options present.
