Hi I haven't used GPIO myself, but piCorePlayer is basically an intact microcore linux distribution (with a little extra to make it a piCorePlayer), so you can install any microcore.tcz package you want. There is a python-GPIO.tcz package you can use. See here http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,16720.msg100085.html#msg100085 and just ask in the microcore forum, they are really nice and helpfull people, so I'm sure they will help you.
