Thanks Steen, I can keep faith with the Squeezebox line a bit > longer thanks to your hard work. Digging around in an box full of discarded wires and connectors I came across an old Behringer UCA202 USB sound card that I used when I first started digitising my LP collection. Hooked it up to the RPi and, another step up in sound quality - particularly dynamic range. Background hiss has now gone and it works without a hitch. It just needed a line of text in the "output" field. Sound quality is on a par (and possibly better than) my existing Receivers.
My only (very minor) gripe with this setup - and nothing to do with Steen's excellent work for which a small donation is on its way - is that the RPi and the DAC are so small and light that the cables to which they are attached are heavier than they are, so they just fall down the back of the hi-fi shelf in a jumbled heap - and it looks a bit messy too. Might shove it all in shiny and metal box with holes for the cables just so it stays in one place and does not look as cheap as it actually is! ;) Matt http://www.last.fm/user/MJL-UK *SqueezeBoxes:* Two SB Duets (Living room and kitchen) *Server:* Synology DS111 (2TB) NAS running LMS 7.7.2 *Network:* Netgear DG834GT ADSL modem/router, Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH access point *Livingroom:* Receiver, Naim 42/110 amp, B&W CM2 speakers *Kitchen:* Receiver, Topping TP20 Mk2 Class T amp, B&W 686 speakers *Study:* Linn LP12, Naim 72/Hi-cap/Headline. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TheLastMan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16021 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97803 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
