Afraid it is difficult to diagnose this without more information - this sounds like a linux driver rather than squeezelite issue. Are there any messages in dmesg related to the time when this occurs? Suggest you enable -d output=debug and see what the logs says when it occurs - is this trying to get different different sampling rate or alsa params than at other times?
