This is probably normal - you will see a command prompt on the hdmi interface when it is first installed. You can install the "jivelite" interface which runs on the hdmi display from the web interface. So the critical question is whether the web interface is running and available - you probably need to check the IP address of the device and see if you can reach via www or ssh as a first test - you should be able to do both.
