Understood. The Max2play software is so very close to a complete solution for a mid-to-high-end stereo system... It's got LMS running fast and snappy-like, and a built-in squeezebox. Hook it up to an external DAC and it fits in perfectly. Right now it sounds fantastic playing back 16/44 files in my smaller system. If I can get it to play 24/96 and 24/192 files, it'll be essentially perfect for my needs, and -- I suspect -- a significant number of audiophiles who don't know this sort of thing exists. So many audiophiles stumble around using lame-ass DLNA servers and renderers, with poor interfaces, and if they knew they could stream bit-perfect audio via the great LMS interface (7.9 has some wonderful features), they'd wet themselves with glee. However, there are some serious stumbling blocks, and it's a very small percentage of the population that would be willing AND able to telnet in with putty and use VI to edit a file in a SSH window. Further, there's no consistent source of information for how to set this thing up. Rpi forums, Logitech forums, mailing lists, all with disparate small pieces of the answers I need to get my Odroid working. Linux is a wonderful tool, but I suspect it may never get its shit together enough to be even remotely palatable to more than a tiny fringe of the population. Then again, maybe that's the way Linux users want it...? Anyway, I'm going to lumber on trying to find the best way to get the Max2play software working to my satisfaction. Right now I've got three other friends who want one if I can get it all sorted.
