@Britcowboy My suggestion: put the PiCorePlayer with HifoBerry Amp on a remote controllable plug. They are cheap and very handy. Since PiCore runs in RAM you can simply cut the power with your remote and you'll havr maximum power saving and silence.
Also, I'm running a Hifiberry Amp setup in the cellar, with two vintag Canton LE 400 and I don't think I ever heard anything.
