You guessed well ;o)
It's not so obscure, that's the I2S over HDMI used by many manufacturers
now, PS Audio initiated it and many others use it now. Audio-GD is one,
Pink Faun as well... But it's not the standard HDMI signal, meaning it's
not compatible with HDMI connexions from standard DVD players,
receivers, TVs etc... which dos not transport raw I2S signal.
The output is perfectly fine for PCM to my DirectStream so as it works
fine in DSD for other DACs for Raspberry Pi (from reports and I
personally I tried the iQaudiO) I figured it should work in this setup
too. I'll try the parameter given by sbp and report ;o)
