Thanks so much for your help Greg. The custom option for ALSA output level fixed the issue of the output reverting back to 50% on reboot. I can confirm that its an issue with HDMI in v1.19. I decided to reimage the microsd card from scratch (which fixed the issue of squeezelite not starting). Since the default Audio Output is set to Analog, I checked the ALSAMIXER using putty and it was at 100%. When I changed to HDMI and rebooted, ALSAMIXER was set to 50%. I don't think this was the behavior in previous versions of picoreplayer.
And I was manually starting squeezelite in the Web Interface, FYI.
