Here I was asking for a drill when all I needed was the hole (maybe). Turns out that ALSA has a plugin called ameter. See here: http://linux-howto-guide.blogspot.ca/2009/11/alsa-audio-meter.html I'm thinking that I'll be able to use the plugin and communicate (somehow) on GPIO to drive the analog VU meters. I tried finding it for tinycore but had no luck. Would it be possible to include this ALSA plugin library in a future version of picoreplayer?
