Have you tried the -r option? I use it and it doesn't matter if my DAC
is on or off, squeezelite runs and uses it when available.
Code:
--------------------
-r <rates>[:<delay>] Sample rates supported, allows output to be off when
squeezelite is started; rates =
<maxrate>|<minrate>-<maxrate>|<rate1>,<rate2>,<rate3>; delay = optional delay
switching rates in ms

44.1->192kbps. LMS & Squeeze2upnp to MF M1 CLiC (to MF amp & ESLs) &
Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers. Minimserver (server) & upplay (control
point) to same renderers & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers. Squeezelite to
Meridian USB Explorer DAC to speakers/phones. Wireless Xubuntu 14.04
laptop with firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with

with EDO, and a spare, but don't use.
