Steve, I can't strictly help you with the Samba routine (see what I did
there) but can't help thinking you are trying to lead a horse to the
wrong waterhole.

I have SOA on a Cubox and until the last weekend was running my music
files on an attached usb drive (I only had a few numpty attempts at
setting up before getting the connection).

I have now connected the LMS to my music folder on a Qnap nas, still
using mnt/disk 1 and everything seems to work fine.

I am guessing that as the usb drive is connected to the pi, it is hidden
from the rest of the network and might have to be attached to either a
PC or router (and maybe mapped in Windows). In fact if you do the latter
it should show up as a drive in the LMS settings web gui (I
think:confused:)
