Hi all, I just thought I post a response to my own question as I managed to get it sorted in the end. (How to get LMS and Squeezelite running on the same Pi with a wireless dongle acting as a Wireless access point for remote control purposes, mainly for holiday use AND without any wired Ethernet) Eventually I turned to SqueezePlug (though it's now also known as SPMax2Play) This worked fine initially when hooked up to my wired network (can only assume that squeezelite was reporting the wired Ethernet address to LMS, which didn't exist when not actually wired. (Don't know why Squeeze plug does not default to this when both are running on the same machine ???) The solution was to specify a Squeezelite start up option of "-s 127.0.0.1" for the loop back address Another problem found was that the /etc/hosts file had 127.0.1.1 raspberrypi I changed this to 127.0.0.1 and it works, though I didn't call my box raspberrypi but something else to identify it ...
