Thanks I just managed to expand the 2nd partition using gparted on another machine. I can install those things now but I'm having trouble getting the required compile libraries installed. I've found some but can't find where stdio.h is. The compiletc meta package doesn't seem to exist on the Pi build but there is a compile-essentials.
