I rolled my own by setting up an IR receiver diode to a serial port and
recording the signals. The hardware is as simple as a diode soldered to
two pins of a serial plug. It was a while ago now but I still have it. 
The LIRC site may provide the information. It's where I went to first.
There is a driver program to record the signal, which can then be edited
to write the config file.

Alternatively you may find a submission from someone else at the LIRC
site as they have (or had) a repository.
