John, one other thought, (and I promise I'll give you something definitive to look at when I get home).Try "dmesg | grep SCLK". If you get any output, which will be something like "No SCLK, using BCLK", then I'm almost sure that it would mean you are running in slave mode (not using external clocks) even if you have Pro board. Absence of that sort of message when audio device is opened, it's not slaving PLL to BCLK, therefore using external SCLK. I think..... From memory.....
