I think this is a brilliant idea to use netboot for the player. If the required server and settings could be wrapped into a LMS plugin - sounds like a dream. Would make adding and managing player much easier - everything in the LMS settings. This sounds like a wonderful idea. Rainer > No use for those that run LMS locally i imagine ??? You mean LMS on pCP? Might increase the network traffic, unless the database is stored locally - could still make sense. > But for updates and off card changes having a sd card setup that > establishes a network and then boots from a network folder would be > great. Also: an update could create a second player instance and one could return to the old one if the noew one has problems. Endless possibilities. Here are some links on how to set this up: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/bootmodes/net_tutorial.md http://www.michael-heck.net/index.php/raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi-von-nfs-booten > Any kernal or setup changes are then local, well kind of, so to speak > ???? I don't think many changes are necessary - only an image to do netboot.
