Well, basically it works this way:
- When switching your TV (if it's CEC capable, but even older TV should
be) to the HDMI channel your Raspi is connected to (lets say, HDMI 1),
your original TV remote becomes automatically a Raspi remote, because
the Raspi hardware allows passing through remote commands through the
HDMI connection. So if you press for example the "Scroll down" key on
the TV remote, the TV would sent the command "Scroll down" through the
HDMI cable to the Raspi. And if you were running a CEC enabled software
on the Raspi (for example Kodi), the cursor would actually scroll down.
Same is true with all the other keys, of course: Play, stop, Pause, One
level up etc.
That means that there would be no need for a second remote to control
jivelite or a keyboard.I believe that it shouldn't be much of a problem
to get this into PCP/jivelite, as there is a ready-to-use library for
this. But of course, I'm not a programmer, unfortunately.
Regards
Martin
