No - the syncing process involves LMS checking every few secs and making v. small adjustments. So when you say sync breaks down - it "feels" like something that is not part of LMS sync. You can enable LMS logging (player.sync) for sync to check on sync behaviour. You can adjust some sync parameters to try to see if it improves sync but this is only worthwhile if the problem is really due to LMS sync.
