Forget jivelite for a second.   Lets check the screen setup/init
process.  (Make sure you did step 4)

  Add /mnt/mmcblk0p1/tce/hp4-init to /opt/bootlocal.sh (Add it before pCP

If you did this out of sequence(i.e. after installing jivelite)  then
you may have missed a backup step.   I did not specifcally tell you to
backup in step 4, as a backup would be done in step 5.  



>From a cold start, the screen will not show anything until hp4-init
runs......But after that, the screeen will stay operational through a
warm boot.

So Boot the system.   Then just do a reboot without removing power.   
Do you see any part of the normal rpi boot?
