This is the setting I now have to achieve the behavior you are describing: LMS does not automatically check for updates on its own, only when manually triggered by the "Check for updates now" CTA - and if it finds a newer build, will automatically download it, thereby enabling pCP's admin console update function. It seems worth it to mention in the "more >" tooltip that auto downloads must be enabled in LMS itself for this function to work.
Going forward, I will check here for any available updates http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/index.php?ver=8.0,read the Git Commit Log to see if there is something in it for me, and if so, update via the above process. On a related note, can anyone say if the update packages logitechmediaserver-8.0.0-XXXXXXXX-noCPAN.tgz accumulate over time, if yes in what directory, or are they removed after installation?
