Most are very happy with a pi3B+. If you need to buy the hardware, then I would just get a pi4B. The discount on a 3B+ is normally only a dollar or two.
The pi3B+ can only be bought in a 1GB version, the entry level on a 4B is 2G...... If you have a very large music library, you may choose to get the 4GB version........but that's overkill for most.
