I have an LMS server running on an older distribution of PCP (5.0) with the built-in 7.9.2 version of LMS. I have 2 hardware players (an original SlimP3, and a Squeezebox Receiver, the player that's built into the server, and two more Pi's running various vintages of PCP.
I want to put together another, and since it's been a while, I thought I'd look for some advice on hardware. On the Pi itself, is a 3B+ good enough, or do people think there's an advantage to the 4? The other piece I would *really* appreciate advice on is the DAC. It *could* be that my other stuff is ooooold, but it does work, it's just that there are sometimes quirks. My biggest complaint is that the audio levels I get out of one seems significantly lower than normal. That is, when I choose that audio source on my receiver, even if the PCP software volume is all the way up, I have to turn the amp's volume much higher than I would with and other source. I'm not asking for advice in troubleshooting that issue; I've learned to live with it for the time being (it's been years...), but I would hope that with some pointers, I could avoid any such disappointment this time. I am probably looking for something in the $20-30 range. I think that gets me a step above the buit-in analog audio out from the Pi, but I am not looking for anything spectacular. But if someone had a recommendation of a specific model, along with what settings it would require, I would appreciate it. Thanks for listening :-) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ tastewar's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32399 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114838 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
