I've been running LMS for a decade now on various Synology NAS using the package provided. My current one is running on an INTEL Atom D425 (1.8GHz) with 1GB RAM, and is not bad at all.
However, sometimes on the players the server feels sluggish. (Players vary from LMS web UI, to Jogglers, to Logitech Touch and boom and players...) I am getting a newer Synology NAS with 4 core 2GHz with 4GB RAM, however I am aware that I am limited to ver 7.7.6 at the moment by the Synology platform, so perhaps it's best to go to a dedicated pi running PcP. I understand I've given far too little information, and am asking a far too open ended question, but I wondered if there were any "thoughts / feelings" on: 1) Is running Synology LMS 7.7.6 a limiting factor which is going to only get worse? 2) Is a pi4 likely to feel like an improvement over the older NAS? Many thanks! 2 x Booms, 2 x Players, 2 x Touch, 4 x Joggler, LMS 7.7.6-113 running on Synology D712+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ wcndave's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114923 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
