I have pcp running on a pi (from 2 to 3 to 4 over the years)
LMS was running on either the nas, (where the music files are), or on a virtual machine just for LMS The current pi4 has way more power than needed for the task, so I tried running LMS on it too. works great. So LMS can run on a) the nas, b) a VM, or c) the pi4 - and there seems to be no downside to c), so that's what I now do. Separately, I can choose where the music library lives: a) the nas or b) usb storage on the pi4 I tried the usb storage method, and that works fine too, so that's what I'm now doing. Notes. 1) I still consider the nas copy of the music files to be the primary copy and so I rsync to the pi4 nightly. 2) The pi4<->nas is a wifi link - never felt the need to go to wired ethernet, but my current config does not send music data over the network while playing. Some people think this is 'a good idea' ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Paul Barnett's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69720 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114923 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
