Thanks for the reply Paul. The more> links have proved very useful in the setup process, but in the case of the network mount I'm not sure I understand what it's trying to tell me. After a bit more fiddling about I can now see piCorePlayer listed among the available players in the LMS web interface. But I also see listed a second player named Zen, that has the same IP address. (Would that name have been picked up from the mount point I set: /mnt/Zen ?) Any idea what that means? Both players are able to see the contents of the NAS by using Remote Libraries (there's a very old instance of LMS running there, that I can't update, but is obviously still able to manage my FLAC library) With the Zen player selected, when I try to play something, nothing happens. With the piCorePlayer selected, the tracks do appear to play but I'm unable to get anything through the Pi's USB output to the amplifier (via a USB Dragonfly DAC). Presumably if things were working properly I should be able to see (and scan) the NAS files directly in the My Music screen? On the subject of IP addresses, I'm also confused that there appear to be two points of connection, in my case 192.168.1.133 and 192.168.1.135. Is that normal behaviour? One for wifi one for ethernet? On the samba question, yes I misunderstood its purpose. I presumed it was to enable Pi to cope with SMB addresses. That's one blind alley I can cross of the list. Questions, questions. I'm sorry to appear so clueless.
