Sorry! Wish I could have helped, but I think Ronnie is much more likely to be able to help you find a solution. But I'm curious about something: was the volume still low with the iec958 setting, or was it louder? The wrong playback speed suggests a sample rate mismatch. That might be addressed by using the Max Sample Rate field in pCP Squeezelite settings. But if it's still not loud enough, there's no point in wasting your time. LMS 8 nightly running on Raspberry Pi OS.
