Oh wow! It never occurred to me that it could be the browser... Yes, I use Firefox (98) but got no warnings at all, it just created 0-byte files. I copied the links from this page and pasted them into Edge and it worked fine! Because I couldn't download your signature, the repo was ignored and I never got past that point... I'm going to give this another go as the concept of a very lightweight Linux audio player really appeals to me.
