Ok I did a little more digging and I think (hope), I have found something.
reading /proc/asound/cards it lists the usb hub port designation. After reboot it stayed the same. I gather I just have to leave them to their specific usb ports. 3 [Adapt]: USB-Audio - USB-A to 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapt Synaptics USB-A to 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapt at usb-0000:03:00.0-3.1, full speed 4 [Adapt_1]: USB-Audio - USB-A to 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapt Synaptics USB-A to 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapt at usb-0000:03:00.0-3.4, full speed I guess it's time to test and see if this will hold up after a reboot.
