I have a PTP with the stock 225MHz 604e, 640MB ram, stock Teac CD-ROM, 2 2GB and one 4GB internal SCSI HDs, OrangeMicro FW/USB card, IXMicro TT128 connected to 15" monitor and a IXMicro UltimateRez 3D connected to a 17" monitor. I have had 10.0, 10.0.4 and now 10.1 installed on the machine with very few problems.
However, there is one problem that has happened with every version of 10. When rebooting from OS X into either OS X or OS 9 the machine freezes with the CD-ROM activity light on constant. When rebooting into OS X it will eventually give me a broken folder icon. In OS 9 it freezes just as the CD-ROM driver (FWB) icon appears in the Parade of Icons. When rebooting from OS 9 this problem never appears. Luckily the fix is easy, just press the power button on the PTP and it turns off and then automatically comes back on and reboots into the which ever OS I told it to before. I thought that it may have been the CD-ROM so I replace the Teac with an old Phillips drive I had laying around but the problem persisted. Even though the fix is easy the machine should not be hanging on reboot. So has anyone else seen or experienced this problem? Any suggestions or other things I might try?
