-- Steve, I think "Verbose Mode" would give you "clues" that might help you, also I'd keep that 7300 "All Apple" ATAPI may not be what OSX likes? Hello Steve & Listers, I've Succeeded! I can't believe it! I've been excited all weekend, my wife can't stand it and neither can my pets...ha! I wasn't able to post a message until today, (earthlink DSL down) I actually completed the install Friday night. I want to thank all that posted. With your help I "mapped out" the process and jumped in. The reason it took such a long time was and I posted a problem on the "Supermacs list" was that I believe I caused a accidental "Spike" by pulling on an adb cable, a long process of restoring my S900. I ruined a Tempo ATA 66 card and lost the contents of a 20 gig of a drive (backed up 2 weeks before). I decided to purchase another S900 to accomplish "2 things" install and spare parts... (Power supply - MoBo - Case etc..) (KyLink $125) as a result of that purchase I acquired a Matshita CR-506 CDROM which I needed, (the install halted with the use of the Yamaha 2100S) I could accomplish a "Bare Bones" install without using my "primary" machine. The New S900 came with 2 SCSI Hard Drives, a IBM 2.1 and a Quantum 3 gig, A Twin Turbo 128/Rev. 36. Ram totaling.. 432 mbs (non interleaved) with the drives formatted (Intech 3.4 HD) & attached directly to the MoBo SCSI pins (next to the ram slots) Installed OS9.1 on the IBM, and the Quantum targeted for OSX. One "glitch" occurred here I installed OSX on the same disk as 9.1 (I couldn't boot) recovered and reinstalled 9.1 and OSX on separate drives. 2nd attempt...40 minutes and I was in! Now I removed the drive with OSX and installed that into my working machine as well as the Matshita CD. After completing the install, I had another "glitch" booting back to OSX I didn't configure XpostFacto "correctly" from 9.1 it "unblessed " the 9.1 Finder, replaced and booted back and forth successfully. My "OSX machine" is as follows: Umax S900 w/ XLR8 400/G3 Mache (Overclocked to 450) 2 EIDE Drives Seagate Barracuda (40 Gig) & IBM 60GXP (20 Gig) (Partitioned OS9.1) Quantum 3.1 Gig SCSI (nonPartitioned OSX) Ram (1 Gig) Interleaved ATI Radeon for Mac Edition (32) Yamaha 2100S (16-10-40) CDRW Matshita CR-506 CDROM Sonnet TEMPO ATA 100 Keyspan USB card And my wife bought me a Samsung 760 V TFT LCD 17" Display which I'm really enjoying ... I have a couple of questions here: 1.) Anyone use "Carbon Copy Cloner" I'd like to put "OSX" on one of my partitioned IDE drives and eliminate SCSI. 2.) Can someone explain what are the "benefits" of installing the L2CacheConfig? Again... thank's to Charles Baker, Britney Fransen, Steve Kidd, and the rest of you great people for making it "easier" for me...
