A few days ago I got the OS X 10.1 installer up and running on a Kanga (original PB G3, 128Mb memory) after a lot of frustration. The problem was that the first partition had to be set smaller than 8Gb or XPostFacto would crash. In addition, I had to do the extra OS 10.1 steps of re-blessing the OS 9 system folder (I used SCSI disk mode), booting back into 9, and running XpostFacto again.
I've been using the PB G3 for a few days now, and I have to say I'm very impressed! It "feels" almost as fast as my PB G4/500 and Lombard G4/500, both of which have 512Mb memory. So far I haven't tried Classic, nor have I run lots of apps at the same time. But for just running IE, mail, and terminal it's pretty good! The only problem I've been having is that it is tough to reboot the machine. Sometimes when I restart it just shows the little happy mac icon and sits there. I have to do a force restart a few times, and eventually it boots. Sometimes I have to hold down option to boot into OS 9, then select OS X in the startup control panel and reboot. But once it does boot into OS X, it's quite stable. -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
