It is the CD that came with it.  Its SCSI.  Can I boot from a firewire
CD ROM?

What kind of CD drive are you using?  What is the interface?

Sometimes, switching CD drives can help.  My IDE 48x will get a kernel 
panic when I try to install from it, but my Yamaha 161040x SCSI works 
just fine.
