Hmmm, this makes it sound as though the RADEON 7000 "Mac edition" is really
the PC edition. The only difference between Mac and PC ATi cards has always
been the ROM, that allows the card to work (to a degree) on a Mac without a
driver. The Mac reads the basic driver out of the ROM on the card and uses
that for bootup (Grey screen).

If the video card is not activating until it's software driver is loaded by
the OS (I.E. no grey screen), it's almost 100% that the card does not
contain the Mac compatability software necessary to display the grey screen.
It's a PC video card.
