Glad to hear that Terminal is working for you so there is hope. I
wonder why it's not working for me? It is possible that the Powerlogix
software doesn't work in Jaguar and attempting to install caused the
problem. The XLR8 cache software doesn't load in Jaguar and not likely
to be updated since they are now closed.
How to check the L2 cache Config to see if it is running. Well 2 ways
that I know of. Open the app which you should have somewhere. Ryan
recommends putting it in the app folder but could be anywhere and it
will tell you if it is configured. Booting up in verbose mode still
shows when it loads. It is near the end soon after Welcome to Mac loads
in print across the screen.
I know about the jumper pins on the motherboard but mine like 99% of
the boards doesn't have the jumpers. i don't want to mess with my
machine and maybe kill it. The only reason I'm so interested is after
loading the Powerlogix cache software in OSX 10.1.5 . I could see a
real world difference in speed with the motherboard cache disabled. For
example Internet Explorer loads and to the opening page in 3 secs flat!
Takes 8-10 secs using L2 cache Config. It is really almost a different
machine nearly as fast as OS 9.x !
Maybe I need to re-install but not in the mood today......It works
well as it is but always trying for better..... later Will S
PS. i wonder if the new extensions that come with XFP 16 would make a
difference with your ide CDRW and or SCSI drive that doesn't work in
Jaguar?
