No. I paid 400 (about $580) for my G3/400 and I live in the UK, stuff
is typically 20% more expensive here. I have seen B&W Rev 2 G3/450
machines on eBay USA for $450. My 400 Rev 2 handles Jagur quite well
out of the box, it's only a stock machine with the original Rage 128,
384MB RAM and a 40GB hard disk.

A G3/G4 card ($100-400 depending on which you get).
A USB/FW card, not essential but OS X doesn't support any Serial
hardware other than modems. ADB is supported if you have it but stuff
that needed drivers in OS 9 is unlikely to be supported in OS X. Also
OS X can't use any analog video ports the 9600 might have.

You can't technically speaking as it doesn't have AGP. You can if you
play with OS X 10.2 and a utility called ExtremePCI. The gains on most
PCI cards are not great although a Radeon Mac Edn. (NOT the Rad. 7000)
will improve Quicktime and Quartz stuff a bit.

The 15" will probably have sharper picture. AFAIK it's probably a 15"
Multiscan. Ther are prone to losing color channels so it's not great.

Do yourself a favour, if your handling DV buy a G4 AGP and some RAM
(you need at least 512MB to get really smooth OS X performance) and
attach your Camcorder (which I presume is a FW/iLink digital item) to
it instead. In addition you can buy a GeForce 2/3 card for it and use
it to run Quartz Extreme. Add to the Altivec already there on a G4
which makes OS X 10.2 shift a bit better and you have a much better
deal. All of that can be had for maybe $650-800 depending on spec,
extras and CPU speed.
