I don't know enough myself, just repeating what I heard. I don't 
think the difference is all that great, just that some cards work 
more reliably in v2.1 slots.

The black bars are flowing quote marks. They resolve into quotes on 
the receiver's machine. The > you see are previous quote marks. I'm 
looking at both of them now in v5.2. They make it easier to edit 
quoted text without having to account for moving the '>' all the 
time. Just pretend they are > and go with their flow.
