Thanks everyone for the suggestions, and for those who said they had the same problem
of early panic in 10.2, a solution is at hand. Ryan Rempel wrote to say he was aware
of this problem, and has it figured out, and that a new version of xPostFacto will be
posted very soon to fix this. I had tried with xPostFacto 2.2.3 & 2.2.2 only with
early panic before installer. It eventually killed my system so that the 30 minute
battery removal, cuda reset, all extra SCSI removal was required. After resurrecting
the system, I got antsy waiting for the fix, and decided to try 2.2.1 based on a
suggestion from here. Hallelujah, it works! Not only does it work, but on the 1st try
with everything still attached (two external SCSI HD's, a CD-R, a scanner, an ATI
Orion card, a USB card and a Firewire card). Who'd have guessed. Now, if the CD-R and
scanner would just be recognized, everything wouold be perfect. Thanks! Kris Tilford
