Sounds reasonable to me, I first had a beta of X running on a 180Mhz 
604 and it was quite slow.

In addition, supporting every piece of of hardware out the would give 
us a problem that Windows is still facing. Apple, in setting the 
hardware standards to grow from made the tasks easier for themselves 
and hardware companies to focus on a smaller base. Software is still a 
question, I'm not a developer so I don't have that perspective. It does 
appear to me that the Apple // (E, C, etc.) environment has reappeared 
and will allow richer applications to give  more choice to the user.
