Do you mean, or did you try, the Rage Pro LT hack? I mentioned it 
here earlier. It helps accelerate cards like the XClaim 3D, even in 
unsupported machines.

My Radeon 7000 is definitely smoother for 2D Finder windows than the 
built-in video of my 8500 in 10.2, but I don't think it's that much 
faster for the Finder than the built-in Rage Pro in my Beige G3 
running 10.2. I would suggest spending money on maxing out RAM before 
a new GPU.
