Hello all!

This is the setup:

PM8500/180 with Sonnett G3/400/512 & 384 meg of ram in 3 chips (A1,A2 &
A3), non interleaved.
Stock 2 gig hd & cd setup (backup startup drive)
Slot 1) ACARD ATA/66 (6260M) with 9 gig Apple 'rommed Quantum Fireball
in 2 partitions (including the startup partition, 10.2.1) and a Western
Digital 30 gig
Slot 2) TwinTurbo 8 meg video card (no acceleration but works fine)
Slot 3) Generic 4-port USB card (fully functional in X but not 9...
hmmmm)

This is the problem. iTunes, Quicktime and any other player having to
do with Quicktime refuse to play my extensive mp3 collection correctly.
They will play the first several seconds of a song, often a
signifigant portion of it, and then the audio will cut out. For all
intents & purposes the song is still playing, as in the display keeps
updating, the counter keeps working and CPU Monitor is still churning
away as if it is playing mp3s but there is no audio. This is from
either the stock speaker, the headphone jack or the RCA jacks, from the
ata drives, the SCSI drive or the network. This is from iTunes,
Quicktime Player, AirWhisper, "UberTunes", etc. This problem is not
evident in OS9, using iTunes 2, SoundApp, GrayAmp, etc.

Is this a problem with my install somehow? Or my hardware? Everything
was working up to the point that I upgraded to 10.2.1 & installed the
ATA card, but I cannot suspect the ATA card due to the fact that the
system is booting from it & it plays the mp3's in OS9.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Rik
