the video card u have is perfect. your CPU is a big factor for mpeg-2 decoding. a g4 REALLY helps decoding. a fast processor is best. i have a SCSI pioneer 10/40x drive that is SCSI-3 but is backwards compatible down to SCSI-1. pioneer u05s i have also tried a B&W pull (IDE) drive in my s900 that worked like a charm. matsushita (panasonic) 5x/32x i believe > Are there any inexpensive (sub-$200) options to add a DVD-ROM drive to > the > S900, one that would work with Apple's DVD Player (with or without > software hacks)? i think it has to be hacked regardless of drive. but its no biggie. > SCSI or IDE/ATAPI? Or a more expensive option if sub-$200 > is not available. all drives are sub $200 (except combo or dvd-r). your best bet is eBay. it's hard to find stuff like this retail. -charles -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
