I am using a 7300/200/512MB RAM and 4 GB second internal drive with 1 GB partition for OS 9.1 and the rest for OS 10.1.5. This set up is used mainly for E-mail, browsing and just playing around with OS X. With the help of this list I have learned how to network OS X with the eight other Macs on my business and home network. The 7300's other hard drive runs OS 8.6. This is used as a back up option for my main G3 upgraded 7500 running primary Adobe graphic arts programs. I mention this because when I first installed OS X (10.1.0 ) quite some time ago I got so excited I foolishly decided to open up PageMaker 6.5 installed on the OS 8.6 drive. Classic started and began to open the PM 6.5 app. Much to my surprise the Classic/OS X system found the missing PM pieces/parts. It took a while but the program opened as was totally functional. This convinced me OS X is really a good system. Currently I'm setting up a second G3 upgraded 7500 (OS 9.1) with a PCI Ultra SCSI controller and a pair 18 GB ultra drives. This is to replace the 7500 I currently use. I have left a hard drive partition empty for a possible Jaguar install. However, after considering the cost of upgrading all my Adobe programs to OS X and MS Office as well. I think it would make more sense for me to invest the relatively few more dollars for a supported machine perhaps a B & W or later depending on what I can afford when that time presents itself. For the near future it is best for me just to just continue to finish building my new upgraded 7500 with OS 9.1 and the pre-X versions of the apps I have. I do wonder if anyone has had success running OS X commercial graphic art programs profitably on unsupported Macs. From what I have read on this list and the PCI list most users seem to go for an OS X supported Mac. Just my opinion of course. --glen __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
