I am totally baffled: my c600 with OX 10.2.6 has just printed out a few pages via my old, but still useful Apple Stylewriter II. I have always thought that the serial port was completely disabled under OS X, but obviously this is not true. With the help of ESP Ghostscript and SW4OSX_1.0, apparently the whole stylewriter family can be used. Similar programms seem to be available for other serial printers as well (see, for example: my.vbe.com/~mbrought/serial_printing).
Maybe this is useful for others with a serial printer.
