You are running OSX on an UNSUPPORTED Mac !!!
Probably a PCI Mac. This means that the ROM chip on your motherboard is OS9 compliant. When you start up off a CD holding down the C key you are eliminating access to ALL of the resources in your computer EXCEPT whatever is contained on the ROM SIMM and the operating system on the CD in the CD-ROM drive. The ROM on your computer will enable OS 9.1 and earlier systems only. You can't boot from an OSX CD or a 9.2.2 CD using the resources on your ROM SIMM. If you could there would be no need to use XPostFacto or the Sonnet PCI OSX Enabler to install OSX. Unless you hack the ROM on your computer you will never have the ROM resources required to boot the computer using just the ROM SIMM and the OSX files in the CD-ROM drive. Thats why your Mac is called unsupported. The function of the XPostFacto is to create a hacked drive image that you can boot off and load OSX. Without loading the hack, you can't load the system. When you try to start up off a OSX CD you bypass the hacked systyem and rely on the resources in ROM and they don't recognise anything past OS9.1. There has been a sudden recent rash of high-ticket items bought all over the US and Canada and with literally thousands of really high-quality counterfeit cashiers cheques drawn on American banks but sent from NIGERIA with an explanation that the cheque is to be deposited and the excess money sent to a third party as soon as the cheque clears. The full face value of the bogus cheque actually DOES appear in the depositor's account within a week (for most US bank accounts) but about a month later, when the bogus cheque finally arrives back from the bank it is drawn on, the full amount of the counterfeit cheque becomes the problem of the depositor. By that time the excess funds have been sent to West Africa and are irretrievably lost.
