Of course this is 110% subjective, but I'm using Jaguar on an iMac 333 with 160 megs of ram, and sometimes (not frequently) it seems that it's a bit slow. I installed a Konfabulator applet that shows me the amount of free ram, and right now there are only 2.14mb, with Safari (2 windows, 11 tabs open), Mail, ICQ 3.4, MSN Messenger all open at the same time.

I also have a Powermac 8600 with it's original 604e @ 250mhz Processor, running Puma (10.1.5) with only 96mb of ram (I'm waiting my G4/400 + 384mb to arrive), and I believe that the processor speed isn't that important, or at least isn't as important as having MORE or AT LEAST 256mb of RAM. I believe that if my 8600 had at least 256mb of RAM it would be a very useful machine, almost on par as this 333 G3 iMac. I don't use Photoshop or other RAM and Processor hungry apps, only those Internet utils, plus Office v.X apps once in a while. A very SOHO use.

Based on the experience of running OS X on two lowend machines, I can assure that your wife will have a very cool machine ******IF****** it does have at least 256 megs !

Hope that I could help (and sorry for my poor english -- i'm brazilian)
