sorry, there's not a thing on the planet that can fix that problem. it means that more than one file is trying to use the same part of the drive, i.e. something was saved, and something else also wrote over at least part of the earlier files space, destroying all or part of the original file. best advice is to backup and recover what you can. you may (depending on the file type, your skills, and pain tolerance) be able to recover parts of the damaged files. in any case don't use this system any more without a backup and reformat, the file system has become hopelessly corrupt and things will likely get a lot worse if you continue to use it. it was just such an incident that forced me to finally buy a cd burner for backup (i knew i should have been backing up, been there before but i wasn't doing anything crucial). sorry, it's one of those things that's just not fixable, the overwriten parts of the original files are simply gone to any one but the NSA and a magnetics lab, and they'd have to really want them.

I'm hoping that starting up from NU8 might work. ------ -- Philip Stortz--"No freeman shall ever be debarred the use of arms."-- Thomas Jefferson, Draft Virginia Constitution, June 1776 from <www.rkba.org> I'd encourage all to actually read the constitution and Bill Of Rights. -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
