Not my cup of tea, but this is UNIX. You can always have it your way:
% cd ~/Applications
% ln -s /Applications/* .
Now all the *individual* apps in /Applications are symlinked from your home
directory. Here's a script to keep it up to date:
#!/bin/sh
cd /Applications
for i in *
do
if [ ! -e "$HOME/Applications/$i" ]
then ln -s "/Applications/$i" "$HOME/Applications/$i"
fi
done
cd $HOME/Applications
for i in *
do
if [ -l "./$i" ]
then
if [ ! -e "/Applications/$i" ]
then rm "./$i"
fi
fi
done
