I have a B&W with 10.2.8 and two 4gb IBM LVD 2 disks on the Adaptec single channel card...the disks work fine, independently, but if I put them on the card at the same time, this is what I get in the log when I try to partition and format the drives:

**********
Sep 23 16:44:25: Disk Utility started.

Preparing to partition disk : COMPAQPC DDRS-34560W Media
Creating Partition Map
Partition complete.

Preparing to erase : Stor 1
newfs_hfs: write (sector 8, 1024 bytes): Input/output error

Volume Erase failed with the error:

The underlying task reported failure on exit
Erase complete.

Mounting Disk
Erase complete.

Preparing to partition disk : COMPAQPC DDRS-34560W Media

Preparing to erase : Stor 2

Note that the disks partition fine, but when the partition is complete, the drives are not named Stor 1 and Stor 2, but rather as disk2s9f and disk1s9f...and the names are greyed out, so I select the disks and click mount...nothing. Format gives me the above erroe. I have tried everything, termination on last dsisk, no termination, card termination, changing ID's, delaying auto start, etc. Help ME please;) My whole goal is to try and get maybe three of these disks working so that I can use the OS X RAID utility, I've been wanting to do that for a while now...
