Now a couple thoughts without the sarcasm. I am often frustrated by all the LEM Lists and my frustration comes from this very point. It has become the case that many people do not do any research at even the lowest level before e-mailing the list. Someone might ask "is my Mac supported under Mac OS X?" Well, Apple has a whole page just detailing that, perhaps you should look ...
On the other hand if we react too harshly to such lowball questions many people will simply be scared off from participating at all.
I would prefer to stop receiving so many "why can't you spend 3-7 minutes and look up the complete and accurate answer yourself" type questions. But I also do not wish to belong to a bunch of e-mail lists where there is no conversation or where anything but the most elite question receives a harsh reply.
So as Paul Simon said on the Dick Cavett Show years ago, "I was stuck, everywhere I went took me somewhere I didn't want to be."
Anyone have an answer?
David
Sometimes I wonder if people actually read the list before they post.
With me so far?
Now, you might think to yourself, if I am a member of a mailing list for
people running OS X on machines which OS X will not install on, there must
be a cheat or something.
And if you go read the XPF website - no, I'm not going to give you a URL,
I'm giving you enough free info as it is; use your initiative!
Of course, if you'd briefly scanned the list, asked yourself "what's this
XPostFacto thing?" and put it into Google, then you wouldn't need to ask
such vacuous questions.
